Sicilian granita was born in the Middle Ages when the so-called “nivaroli” collected the frozen snow on Etna and stored it in the caves and then used it in the summer months to make fresh desserts with lemon juice, fruit or flowers.
Over the years the recipe has been refined until it reaches the current formula of the “traditional Sicilian granita“, soft and creamy and with the taste of Sicily now known all over the world.
